I am most inclined to paint in a hypo-realist style. I am drawn to oil paints because of their versatility. The interplay of layers and pigment create an intriguing visual rich in tradition while (I argue) still relevant today. Although I find my most “finished” work is completed in oil paints, I habitually come back to drawing as the foundation for all of my art. I take photos, so I can compile a catalog of references to pull from, though some are strong enough to stand on their own. I want to create spaces that comment on nature, people, and our relationships/implications of one another.

I currently study Studio Art at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and will graduate Spring 2015. From my time at Westmont, I have been fortunate enough to study abroad in the beautiful country of New Zealand in a sustainable living environment. I was a resident assistant during my third year, and now enjoy life off the Mont by renting a home with my creative friends in the BAM BAM house. This year will comprise of a senior art show at the Ridley Tree Museum in April and my role as Editor-in-Chief of the Phoenix: Westmont’s literary, art and music publication established in 1960.
